Getting Here & Building Operations

  • We are located at 2303 Kennedy Street in Northeast Minneapolis, right off of Stinson Boulevard.

There are two entrances – the glass doors on the front of the building, and the red door on the side of the building, by the loading dock. There are stairwells located at each entrance, and a freight elevator by the loading dock; we’re located on the 2nd floor.

  • There is free, off-street parking in the lot behind the building, all signs marked ‘Kennedy’ are open to park. There is also free street parking surrounding the building on Kennedy and McKinley streets.

  • The main doors are unlocked from 8am to 10pm. If you have a 10pm rental or are attending a session, you must arrive before 10pm, otherwise you’ll be unable to access the studio.

  • There is a manual freight elevator at the loading dock entrance. You are welcome to use it. PLEASE CLOSE BOTH GATES when you’re done operating the elevator, otherwise others in the building will not be able to call it.

If you require assistance with the elevator, we are happy to help. Please contact us in advance to let us know if you have any accessibility needs.

Due to the nature of the building's historical status, it's unfortuantely required to meet a lesser standard of accessibility. We are working on solutions.

Classes

  • All new clients must fill out a New Client Form and create an account first; this adds you to our system and covers all the waivers you need to sign. Once that’s complete, you can register for class on our website, the MINDBODY web portal, or download the MINDBODY app on your phone.

  • Yes. You must check in for class at the main desk, either with the receptionist or on the check-in tablet.

  • We encourage clients to pre-register, as it allows for instructors to plan accordingly. However, we do accept walk-ins! If you walk in, please arrive ahead of time so you don’t miss the beginning of class; registration can take a few minutes.

  • No problem! We have classes for beginners, as well as all-levels fitness classes. Check out the schedule and note the class levels under the title.

  • Certainly. It’s about your personal comfort levels and how you want to be challenged. As long as you have some experience in how a dance class works, you’ll feel comfortable in our intermediate/advanced classes.

  • We feel you, it can be intimidating to return to the studio. We’ve worked hard to make Hothouse a welcoming, judgment-free space. Our clients range from brand new movers, to experienced professionals. There is no pressure to be a certain way at Hothouse, we’re all just here to have fun and move together. The best advice we can give is — you have nothing to lose by coming to class and giving it a try.

  • Sessions are community-based gatherings hosted by a Hothouse instructor. Sessions are not a class, they are for freestyle expression and open to all levels. Hothouse offers a variety of Sessions, including Krump, Popping, Hip Hop, Waacking, Litefeet, Vogue, and Womxn’s.

  • Sorry, kids! Hothouse is a space for adults and older teens (minimum age of 16). Please note that many of our classes incorporate music with explicit lyrics, and mature movement.

But, if you notify us 1+ hour in advance of a class (or early cancel your visit online by logging into your account ) your purchase will be credited to your account and can be used towards a future class. No-shows are non-refundable.

  • We do not offer unlimited monthly packages. However, we do offer 5 and 10-class packs, as well as same-day 2 class packs.

  • You can reschedule your rental through your MINDBODY account at any time. If you need to cancel, as long as you do so with 48+ hours notice, your rental pass will get credited to your account for future use. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged in full.

  • Like many businesses, our reply emails often get sent to your spam folder. If you don’t see our reply in your inbox, check your spam; if it’s been more than 2 weeks and you haven’t seen a response from us, please contact us again!

Prospective Instructors & Master Classes

  • Experienced instructors should contact hello@hothousempls.com and we will provide you with application information. Emerging instructors may be eligible to apply to New Grooves, our seasonal workshop that platforms early-career teaching artists.

  • We love to bring in teachers from the dance industry for Master Classes. Please contact us for an introduction.

Photo & Video

  • When you register as a client, you agree to our release waiver that states a photo or video of you could possibly be used in promotional materials. However, we completely respect if you do not want to be featured in small group videos. Simply tell the videographer you want to stay on the side, and you’ll be out of the frame.

  • We do not film every class. As much as we love sharing what’s happening in class, we understand video can be distracting. Typically classes are filmed every 4-6 weeks.

  • When videos are ready to be distributed, you will receive an email with an access link.

  • We ask that clients kindly respect the amount of time it takes for video to go through a post-production process. Do not contact Hothouse or videographers directly after class; clients will receive an email with links to the files when they are ready. Please keep in mind this is a free service being offered to clients; video coverage is not part of the class fee. We love it when you share your class experience on social media with your network, but kindly consider crediting the instructor, the studio, and the videographer.
